Yuga Labs lawsuit decision against copied NFT creators | Bored Ape Yacht Club | Cryptopunks

A California court has rejected a request by artist Ryder Ripps and Jeremy Cahen, the founder of NFT marketplace Not Larva Labs, to dismiss a lawsuit filed against them by NFT developers Yuga Labs. The lawsuit, filed in June, accuses Ripps and Cahen of copying and selling NFT collections that allegedly devalued the original Bored Ape products created by Yuga Labs. In response, Ripps and Cahen filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit and an anti-strategic lawsuit against public participation motion, both of which were denied. Yuga Labs alleges that Ripps and Cahen profited from its intellectual property and has stated that the lawsuit will continue. Ripps has previously described the lawsuit as an attack on his freedom of speech and stated that he will only agree to settle the case for a payout of at least $100 billion. The court has given Ripps and Cahen the opportunity to re-file a motion at a later date.
